Super Bowl XLI will pit the AFC Champion Indianapolis Colts versus the NFC Champion Chicago Bears. But during the television timeout when the all important Super Bowl ads run another battle between hard bodied ladies Candice Michelle and Angelina Jolie was on the drawing board for high definition display.
Candice Michelle to Mock Angelina Jolie in Super Bowl Commercial?
Candice Michelle to Mock Angelina Jolie in Super Bowl Commercial?
According to Gannett, what might have been GoDaddy.com's most biting idea for a Super Bowl spot has been a closely held secret - until now. The buxom "GoDaddy Girl" (aka Candice) was to play a clueless American in Africa, telling immigration officials that she wanted to adopt a baby.
Jolie's third world adoptions are legendary and it also could be argued that the spot pokes fun at Madonna. So - will the spot air? Sadly - no. Go Daddy's CEO Bob Parsons nixed the idea, according to the report. But it was not because it was controversial (has Go Daddy ever backed way for that reason?) Parsons reportedly loved the concept, and his company, which sells Internet domain names, thrives on controversy.
He killed the ad for only one reason: "I didn't see anywhere to go with it on the Internet."
The report details that Parsons says GoDaddy's African baby idea wasn't sexy - or polarizing - enough to be a hit on the Web. "We can't get across what we do in a 30-second spot, so we have to run a spot that is polarizing enough to get people to come to our Web site to see more."
But don't worry - you'll see Michelle. This year's spot features GoDaddy Girl Candice Michelle dancing in a wet T-shirt at a party in GoDaddy's marketing department.
